EBRSO investigating possible rape, abduction in Zachary
ZACHARY - A woman who said she was abducted and raped is recovering in a hospital in Zachary on Thursday.
Residents on Brian-Chad Avenue in Zachary said they saw a woman walking in a daze, looking for help. Michelle Stanfill was standing outside of her house Thursday morning when she spotted the woman, who appeared to be around 18 or 19 years old, and approached her to help.
Stanfill said the woman asked her to use her phone so she could call 911.
"So until she got closer, I didn't realize how upset she really was," said Stanfill.
Once she made contact with the dazed woman, Stanfill found out from her that she had been kidnapped from her job at a motel on Airline Highway. As she dialed the phone, Stanfill slowly picked up more details about what happened.
"He had put a gun to her head and that she had been in the house all night. And when he left, she saw her chance to get out," said Stanfill.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office would not confirm any of the details Stanfill received from the victim. The only information News 2 was able to get from EBRSO was confirmation that there was an ongoing investigation into what happened to woman underway, but they could not say specifically what they were investigating.
Stanfill told News 2 that after law enforcement arrived, the woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
