EBRSO investigating payday loan armed robbery
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies are investigating an armed robbery of an East Baton Rouge Parish payday loan business that happened on Tuesday.
An employee told investigators a man entered EZ Payday Loans at 10446 Airline Hwy shortly before noon on June 17 and posed as a customer before pulling out a black handgun.
The robber held the employee at gunpoint as she filled a white plastic bag with $2,020 in cash, then ordered her to the back of the business before fleeing according to EBRSO.
Deputies suspect the armed robber fled in the direction of Arnold Lane on foot because no vehicle was seen leaving the business after the crime.
The employee described the suspect as a thin black man wearing a tan hat, dark sunglasses, a red shirt with an orange safety vest over it, blue jeans and tan work boots.
Anyone with information concerning the robbery is asked to contact the Armed Robbery Division at (225) 389-3845.
