EBRSO: Homeless person found dead in camp
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies said a homeless person was found dead in a camp he'd constructed behind a well-known Baton Rouge restaurant.
"There were two men, that were sleeping back in a wooded area, they found another man deceased in the area, it looks like he's been there for a little while," said Casey Rayborn Hicks, the spokesperson for the Sheriff's office.
Deputies questioned the two men who found the man, but didn't immediately think they were involved.
"Right now, we're still interviewing them to see what they were doing, but it's our understanding that they may have been living back there as well," said Hicks.
Sheriff's office spokesperson Casey Rayborn Hicks told News 2 they believed the man died of natural causes, but they were still investigating the scene at this time and won't release a cause of death until an autopsy is conducted.
Deputies think the man had been dead for several days before his body was discovered.
The man's identity was not released.
