EBRPSO investigating counterfeit bills being passed
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man that tried to pass a counterfeit $100 at an East Baton Rouge gas station.
Major Lawrence McLeary said on March 13 deputies were called to the Valero at 9990 Bluebonnet Blvd. and were told a man tried to make a purchase with a fake $100 bill.
When the clerk refused the purchase the man tried to get the bill back, and when the clerk didn't give it back he left the store.
McLeary said the bill was actually a bleached $5 bill, and that over the past several months several other bleached bills have been passed in the Baton Rouge area.
Anyone that knows the identity of the suspect or other information about the counterfeit bills should call the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office at (225) 389-5000.
