EBR student describes attack on bus driver
BATON ROUGE- A student who witnessed a fight between her East Baton Rouge Parish bus driver and another student Friday says she's concerned about her safety.
18-year-old Shanetra Daniels was booked on battery charges Friday morning.
Authorities say she beat her bus driver around 6:30 a.m. on the way to Woodlawn High School. The beating caused the driver to slam on her breaks, which sent Daniels crashing into the bus windshield. However, authorities say, the attack on the driver continued.
A student who witnessed the attack says Daniels was angry about being written up for leaving trash in the bus the day before. The student says misbehavior on the bus is constant, but this is the first time it led to a fight.
Daniels was still in the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail Friday night. No bond was set for her release. The East Baton Rouge Parish School District says Daniels has been recommended for expulsion.
