EBR shelter holding March Madness adoption event
BATON ROUGE - The organization in charge of East Baton Rouge Parish's animal shelter announced a new adoption initiative today.
Companion Animal Alliance said they're holding "Hounds on the Rebound" during March Madness, in cooperation with the organization Friends of the Animals. During March dogs weighing more than 40 pounds from either group will have their adoption prices halved. Shelter organizers said that includes vaccinations, spaying or neutering, microchipping and a heartworm test.
If a big dog isn't in your future, CAA Executive Director Beth Brewster asked people to consider adopting other animals at the shelter.
"The Baton Rouge shelter has many wonderful animals," Brewster said. "Cats, dogs, young, old, large, small, black, white... and often purebreds. We really need the public to come see our pets when they decide to add a furry family member."
CAA hosts pet adoptions at the East Baton Rouge Parish Animal Shelter near the airport at 2680 Progress Road. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and on Thursdays the shelter stays open until 7 p.m.
A list of many CAA animals can be found on Petfinder. For more information contact the shelter by calling (225) 774-7701 or visit CAABR.org.
