A candidate for the East Baton Rouge Parish School Superintendent has withdrawn his name from consideration for the position.

Board members had selected three candidates to interview for the position of Superintendent of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

They included:

Maria Pitre-Martin, Director of K-12 Curriculum and Instruction for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, H. Allen Smith, Executive Director of the Summit Schools Network in Denver and Bernard Taylor, Superintendent of Schools, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Smith has decided to remove his name as a finalist.

The School Board has scheduled workshops beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for each interview session with the remaining candidates.

Candidates are expected to visit schools during the day prior to their interviews.
