John Dilworth has announced he is stepping down as the superintendent of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

Dilworth made his announcement Friday during a meeting with Central Office staff.

Dilworth began his tenure as superintendent July 1, 2009, replacing Charlotte D. Placide, who retired.

He plans to remain as the district's superintendent until June 30.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board will announce a timetable for selecting Dilworth's replacement in the near future.
