EBRSO recapture escaped prison trustee
BATON ROUGE - Law enforcement said Tuesday they recaptured a felon who escaped from EBR Parish Prison earlier in May.
Deputies said they apprehended Joseph Pomares, 42, at a McDonald's on I-12 after a short pursuit on Monday evening.
The man began his sentence at EBR prison on April 5 after being convicted of unauthorized use of an access card and illegal possession of stolen things, according EBRSO.
Pomares was working as a prison trustee on May 19 when he walked away from his post and was unable to be located until he was recaptured on Monday, according to authorities.
Deputies said Pomares was booked into Livingston Parish Prison as a fugitive from East Baton Rouge.
He was transported to EBR Parish Prison Tuesday and booked for the additional charge of simple escape.
