BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies arrested a teacher from Broadmoor Middle School after they said she picked up a misbehaving student's desk while the student was in it, causing the student to hit her head.
Casey Hicks with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said Ella Grant was arrested Wednesday after the fifth-grade girl went home and told a parent. That parent took her to the doctor, and told authorities she had a mild concussion.
Grant was arrested for cruelty to juveniles and booked into the parish jail.
Chris Trahan said Grant was not at school today, and is required to file a report with human resources tomorrow. Trahan said she'll stay on administrative leave while administrators investigate the incident.
