EBR Metro Council delays vote on EATEL
BATON ROUGE - Metro Council members chose tonight to delay a vote on allowing a new cable provider in East Baton Rouge Parish.
EATEL wants to expand their fiber-optic network into the capitol area. They're currently the leading cable, phone and internet service provider in Ascension Parish.
EATEL spokesperson Trae Russell said they've invested about $85 million into their current fiber system, which covers more than 90 percent of Ascension Parish.
The council will take the issue up again in two weeks, at their Sept. 28 meeting.
