GONZALES - The Ascension Parish-based internet service provider Eatel confirmed an outage this evening knocked out service to some of their customer base.

Eatel spokesperson Trae Russell said a "hardware failure" was to blame, and they were working to correct it.

Eatel provides internet, phone and television service through their fiber optic network.

Russell said they didn't have an estimated time frame before service would be restored.
