CLINTON - The East Feliciana Parish School voted to move forward with layoffs that will include teachers.
The district currently faces a deficit of over $600,000, and a projected deficit of $800,000 if they don't change the way they do business.
Superintendent Henderson Lewis Jr. told News 2 the plan is to even out student-teacher ratios across the board and possibly eliminate some positions without firing people.
"We're at a point now where we have no reserves, so as a district we're really living from month to month, literally," said Superintendent Henderson.
The board believes at most 20 people will have to be laid off.
The superintendent says those who will lose their jobs will find out by the end of the month.
