Earl K. Long Memorial closes this weekend
BATON ROUGE - In less than three days, Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital will shut its doors for good.
The hospital's closing due to changes in the LSU Health System and state budget cuts.
Officials have transferred much of the hospital's services to other hospitals and clinics around Baton Rouge. Only the emergency department remains open, but ER doctors can only see patients will minor injuries. Patients with life-threatening injuries will be sent to the nearest hospital that can meet their health needs.
The ER, along with all of EKL's services, will end on April 15 at midnight.
