E. Feliciana picks new school chief
CLINTON - The East Feliciana Parish School Board has voted to name Henderson Lewis as the next superintendent of schools.
Thursday's 10-1 vote came after the public had a chance to meet Lewis and the other finalist, Edna Lusk Thomas. The board also questioned the two separately behind closed doors.
The board appointed Thomas in January as the parish's interim assistant superintendent to act in the absence of Superintendent Douglas Beauchamp, who is taking leave before his June 30 retirement.
Lewis is director of academics and instructional technology for Algiers Charter Schools Association, overseeing academic programs for eight schools.
He has a doctorate of philosophy in educational leadership from Mississippi State University.
