Dyer Road Bridge closed in Baker
BATON ROUGE - Drivers who pass the Dyer Road Bridge over White Bayou will have to find another route.
The East Baton Rouge City-Parish Department of Public Works Traffic Engineering Division closed the bridge Wednesday. Drivers can take the detour route from Plank Road (LA 410) to Zachary Deerford Road (LA 64) to Blackwater Road (LA 410).
According to East Baton Rouge Parish chief bridge engineer Tom Stephens, the bridge was closed after a state inspection found one of the timbers supporting the deck to be badly decayed. Louisiana inspects bridges every two years and East Baton Rouge Parish has more than 270 bridges Stephens said.
Stephens said that the bridge is expected to be closed for at least three months.
