BATON ROUGE - Police arrested five people and checked 159 vehicles during a sobriety checkpoint overnight in Baton Rouge.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said officers conducted the checkpoint on the 2800 block of Brightside Drive, south of the LSU campus.
He said of the vehicles checked, 17 field sobriety tests were administered and five people were arrested in suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Officers also issued 16 traffic citations and made one other misdemeanor arrest.
