Drug buys lead to 22 arrests in Tangipahoa Parish
HAMMOND – A month-long narcotics investigation has yielded 22 drug arrests for investigators in Tangipahoa Parish, and they said more are coming.
Deputies and narcotics agents issued more than twenty warrants yesterday throughout the parish, mostly in Hammond. Nine other people have warrants out for their arrest in relation to the investigation.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards said the arrests were part of a four-week long operation where narcotics agents bought drugs such as methamphetamines, cocaine and prescription pills from the suspects.
“We are sending a message to area drug dealers that drug trafficking in our parish will not be tolerated,” he said.
