MORGAN CITY - Three people were arrested Thursday in Morgan City after deputies witnessed a drug transaction outside of a hotel.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said 23-year-old Eric Charles of Morgan City sold a bag of marijuana to Jovon Johnson, 30, also of Morgan City.
According to deputies, Charles' girlfriend, 21-year-old Chrisdian Poole was also taken into custody after detectives made contact with her inside the hotel room.
A search warrant was issued and over $5,700 in crack cocaine, marijuana, a handgun, and items of drug paraphernalia were recovered at the scene. Deputies say the crack cocaine had an estimated street value of $4,200.
All three suspects are being held in the St. Mary Parish jail on drug and gun charges.
Poole's bond is set at $11,000. No bond is set for Charles and Johnson.
