DENHAM SPRINGS- Highway 16 outside of Denham Springs is a dark stretch of road.
"It's not a very long stretch but it's a dangerous stretch. It's just too dark," said Andy Lewis.
The street is so dark drivers say seeing what's in front of them is a challenge.
"On a scale from 1 to 10; about a 9. I mean, it's dark," said Vicki Seal.
Wednesday night John Barker, 69, was hit and killed here. A make shift memorial marks the spot where he died along Hwy 16.
"I think everybody want to see more lights up. No body wants to see anybody get killed and lights would have prevented that," said Andy Lewis.
But no one seems to know who would be responsible for putting up more lights. Not even leaders.
Hwy. 16 is a state highway. But, the state told WBRZ News 2 it is not responsible. Then, shuffled the light issue to the parish. Livingston, too, wasn't sure.
Drivers just want something, so others don't die.
"It could have been somebody in my family that it could have happened to. The light could have prevented the death. So definitely the city parish needs to do something," said Seal.
