Driver ticketed for causing car to plow into bar
BATON ROUGE - A downtown bar closed Wednesday night after a car plowed into it, creating a gaping hole.
Police say a car ran a red light and hit another car, sending the second vehicle into the side of George's Place.
There were seven people in the bar at the time of the accident. Some were seated at the bar, others playing pool.
"The whole building moved," said bartender Dino Clark. "I'm surprised it didn't cave in."
The car took out a brick wall, a metal door and a table.
"As I'm looking that way, I just see the building just coming out for me," said Clark.
A team of people worked to secure the bar Wednesday night and hope to reopen Thursday.
The driver of the car was issued a ticket for failure to stop at a red light. The driver of the car that plowed into George's Place was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
