BATON ROUGE - Police released the name of the 83-year-old man who died in a crash while exiting I-110 this morning in Baton Rouge.

Cpl. Don Coppola Jr. said Walter Georgetown of Brusly died from injuries sustained in the wreck at I-110 North and Florida Boulevard.

Investigators said Georgetown's SUV was leaving the interstate at the Florida exit when he lost control and hit a concrete support pillar.

He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, and later died from his injuries.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle, and Coppola said the crash remains under investigation.
