Driver flees after fatal moped crash
ROBERT - Troopers are looking for the driver involved in a fatal crash involving a moped in Tangipahoa Parish.
Troopers say the driver of a Toyota truck or SUV hit the moped, which had no headlights or taillights on, from behind on LA-445 around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Chaz Brumfield was knocked off the moped and into the middle of the road and was hit by an 18-wheeler and another car, according to Nick Manale with Louisiana State Police. Both of those drivers stopped.
Brumfield was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing a helmet and may have been impaired at the time of the crash.
Troopers are looking for the driver who initially hit Brumfield. Troopers suspect the vehicle will have damage to its left front fender and headlight.
