Driver distraction discussed in Washington

Today the Transportation Department will start a two day meeting to discuss the dangers of distracted drivers.  The meeting could lead to new restrictions on using mobile devices while driving.  A new government report says nearly 6,000 people were killed and a half-million injured last year in vehicle crashes connected to driver distraction.  Driver distraction was involved in 16 percent of all deadly crashes in 2008 and was generally among drivers under 20 years old.
