Driver dies after crashing into bayou
LAROSE - State Police said a Lockport man died after he flipped his car upside down in Bayou Lafourche this weekend.
Troopers said Isaias Torres, 43, died at University Hospital in New Orleans after the wreck Sunday.
State Police said they were called to the wreck near the town of Larose around 3 p.m. They said Torres was heading south on LA 1 when he flipped his car and landed upside down in the bayou.
Troopers said Torres was wearing his seat belt, and was trapped in the submerged vehicle until State Police could extract him. He was treated at Saint Anne Hospital before being flown to University Hospital, where he later died due to his injuries.
State Police said they suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash, and took a blood sample from Torres to test at the state crime lab.
Troopers reminded any drivers that see hazardous situations on Louisiana's roads to dial *LSP (*577) in order to report it to the Louisiana State Police.
