BATON ROUGE- A fight with a mistress caused a driver going down Howell Boulevard to cross the median and skid into the parking lot of a hotel, striking two cars on Wednesday afternoon.

The driver who crashed into the two cars was in a white Dodge Truck. The driver, identified by police as Joseph Earl Robertson, Jr., was going down Howell Boulevard while he and a mistress were breaking up, according to police.

Robertson and the mistress got into a fight, causing him to hit the car's accelerator, cross over the median and went into the parking lot of a Springhill Suites hotel parking lot. Robertson hit two parked cars in the lot.

After hitting the cars, the truck slammed into an electric box and the hotel pool pump.

Robertson was later arrested for aggravated criminal damage to property.

At the time of his arrest, Robertson's name was listed as Joshua but was changed to his legal name, Joseph, when he was booked into jail.
