Driver cited for suspended license after striking, killing pedestrian on Plank Road

UPDATE: State police say 35-year-old Carl Kelly Jr. of Zachary has been cited for driving with a suspended license in the Wednesday morning crash. They say the unidentified female was walking south in the southbound lane of the roadway when she was struck.

Police say a chemical test indicated that Kelly was not intoxicated at the time of the crash and impairment on his part is not suspected.

The crash remains under investigation.

BAKER- Authorities are on the scene of a crash where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle.

The incident occurred at Plank Road and Bentley sometime before 6:30 a.m. The age and gender of the victim have not been released at this time. State Police are investigating the incident.
