WALKER – Police arrested a man in connection with a deadly crash on Florida Boulevard earlier in December.

Robert Kelly, 44, was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on negligent homicide and negligent injury charges along with outstanding warrants for not showing up to previous court hearings. Police said he also was ticketed for numerous traffic violations related to the wreck.

Investigators said Kelly was driving his pickup eastbound on Florida near the North Corbin Road intersection on December 4th when he lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, drove onto the opposite shoulder and then crashed head-on into another vehicle as he tried to maneuver his way back into the correct lane. Kelly's wife, who was riding with him, was injured. The passenger in the oncoming pickup police said Kelly hit, Nikki Lambert, was killed. The driver of the other vehicle was injured, too.

Police described the crash as a “result of driver violations.”

Charges could be upgraded, police added.

Bond was set at $53,448.
