Driver arrested for striking cyclist with vehicle
BATON ROUGE- Police have arrested a woman who they say hit a pedestrian on a bicycle over the weekend.
Police say Constance Archie, 44, hit the cyclist around 10:15 p.m. Saturday.
The cyclist was riding northbound on Plank Road when he was struck by Archie who was driving a grey Ford Mustang.
Archie was arrested and charged with DWI, Reckless Operation, Improper Lane Usage and First Degree Negligent Vehicular Injuring. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
The cyclist was transported to a local hospital and is in critical but stable condition. The cyclist's identity is unknown at this time.
The crash remains under investigation.
