Driver arrested in hit-and-run fatal crash
SCHRIEVER - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit and run vehicle as she walked on the shoulder of La. Highway 20 in Terrebonne Parish.
State police say the driver was later arrested after she returned to the scene to turn herself in.
Trooper Evan Harrell says 40-year-old Sandy Carlisle of Schriever was eastbound on Highway 20 Sunday night when her car drifted onto the right shoulder and struck a pedestrian.
Harrell identified the victim as 24-year-old Taja Winston, also of Schriever.
Carlisle arrested and booked with hit and run and improper lane usage.
It was unclear whether Carlisle has an attorney.
