Drive-by shooting in New Iberia under investigation
NEW IBERIA - Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon on S. Hopkins St. in New Iberia.
Around 2:53 p.m. deputies were called to the 600 block of S. Hopkins St. in reference to a shooting. Upon arriving, deputies found a 39-year-old black male with a gunshot wound in his leg. The man's name was not released. He was transported to Iberia Medical Center and his condition is unknown.
Investigators learned that the man was walking on the side of S. Hopkins St. when an occupant of a passing vehicle shot him. Detectives are asking for anyone with information about this shooting to please call the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at 369-3711.
