BATON ROUGE - The state Department of Natural Resources Secretary Scott Angelle says he hopes global factors will influence Washington's drilling permit process.
He says a moratorium on deepwater drilling after last year's spill has morphed into a "permit-orium", because the permit process is so difficult that activity in the Gulf of Mexico has not picked up. Angelle urged leaders on Capitol Hill to make the right policy changes.
Drivers we spoke with agreed with that assessment. Some say new drilling may help lower gas prices and put more people in Louisiana back to work.
