Drama In Port Allen: Police escort man out

PORT ALLEN - The crowd and the drama overflowed at the Port Allen city council meeting Wednesday. On the agenda, two controversial items, the introduction of a resolution to create department heads and a resolution to ask the Sheriff and the District Attorney to investigate Port Allen mayor, Deedy Slaughter.

The drama of the meeting escalated when a citizen waived the race card and three police officers escorted him out of the meeting. As he left he yelled, "You put the Ku-Klux-Klan in an African-American seat."

Another speaker at the podium added, "I must say that if we have any budgetary problems we should charge admission and serving some popcorn and soda because the drama is right here."

At the end, the resolution to create department heads was introduced and the resolution to investigate the mayor was approved.

Mayor Slaughter also announced that she is filing a complaint with the U.S. Attorney General's office for harassment and discrimination.
