DPW to repair sidewalks damaged by city trees
The Department of Public Works in Baton Rouge is ready to repair blocks of sidewalks destroyed by Mother Nature. Giant live Oaks are tearing up concrete in the Garden District and beyond.
A parish-wide ordinance states residence are responsible for maintaining sidewalks in front of their homes, but several complained to council members after sidewalks were being torn up by the trees. DPW Director Pete Newkirk evaluated them today, and those sidewalks are about to get repaired.
