Dozens of cats, dogs taken from home
PLAQUEMINE - Authorities removed dozens of dogs, cats and kittens from an Iberville Parish home Thursday after a complaint that some of the animals had gotten out.
Mark Miglacio with the Iberville Parish Department of Public Works said 16 dogs and 20 cats and kittens were removed from the home on Delacroix Street, all of which appeared to be in good health.
Miglacio said the parish recieved a complaint that four or five of the dogs had gotten loose and were roaming the neighborhood. He said an inspector and animal control went out to the residence with a search warrant, which is when they found all the animals.
Miglacio said there is a city ordinance limiting how many animals can be kept at a home, and that a city judge would issue any necessary citations.
He said animal control had been out to the home last year to put down a dog who'd reportedly bitten someone.
