Downtown sculpture, stage to be dedicated today
BATON ROUGE - A nearly million-dollar sculpture in downtown Baton Rouge will be officially dedicated today after months of delays.
Called "The Crest," the curved sculpture stretches over a stage at the Galvez Plaza and will hold rigging for concerts and other events downtown.
The more than $900,000 stainless steel structure was approved in 2011 and originally scheduled to be completed in April, but weather and other construction delays held it off until today.
The Downtown Development District scheduled an official christening for the stage tonight starting at 6 p.m.
