Downtown Baton Rouge gets cleaned up
BATON ROUGE - Dozens showed up to clean downtown Baton Rouge, Saturday morning.
The effort was as a result of a partnership between Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful and The Baton Rouge Lodging Association.
"It impacts the economic development of our city. It impacts the tourists that come to our city," said organizer, Gwen Emick. "When people come to visit our city, we don't want them to see a dirty city."
Volunteers said regardless of the weather and the fact that it's a Saturday, they're willing to come out and give their time to helping make Baton Rouge a clean place.
"I think downtown could always be better. I mean look at downtown six years ago compared to downtown now. Downtown's always going to be in a state of improvement," said volunteer, Grant George.
