DOTD to inspect bridge at site of deadly wreck
PLAQUEMINE - State traffic officials said they will close a portion of I-10 East this week to inspect the area where four big rigs collided, killing two people and shutting the interstate down for hours.
DOTD said the right lane at the Whiskey Bay Pilot Channel will be closed Thursday, May 8 from 8 a.m. to noon for the inspection. They asked drivers to use caution when going through the site and be aware of work crews and equipment.
A couple from Ohio died when their tractor trailer rear-ended another and caused a chain-reaction crash Friday.
The interstate remained closed into Saturday while the wreck was cleared.
