Department of Transportation and Development Secretary William D. Ankner resigned Friday afternoon.
Ankner was on the hot seat with lawmakers earlier this week over an interstate construction project. The project was awarded to Boh Bros. using a new value formula, despite the fact the company put in the highest bid.
Gov. Bobby Jindal said in a statement, "We are grateful for Bill's service to the people of Louisiana."
Jindal announced Deputy Secretary Sherri LeBas would serve as the interim secretary through the upcoming legislative session and until a new permanent secretary is appointed.
Lebas has 24 years of state service in Louisiana: 18 years at the Department of Transportation and Development and six years with the Division of Administration.

I say there is something fishy about all this contract and bidding. What is going on?? Why not get the investigative reporters on the subject? Or do they have anymore?? Maybe you can recruit this guy who investigated ACORN and Landrieu's office. He seems to be the only one who is willing to do the hard work! What is going on with the news media now days?? Come on WBRz, I think you need a new blood hound like the former pit bull, JOHN CAMP, who left for higher jobs. WE WANT THE LIGHT SHONE ON THESE THINGS!! NOW!

Investigations should also be done in the DOTD Real Estate Section regarding the way projects and contracts are given to consultants. Very questionable?

If Jason knows what he is talking about then he should elevate his concerns to the DOTD Secretary

The contract was some sort of stimulus package for 60 million. This company bid $59,999 and was approved, even though 2 other companies bid far less. This crook had to get KICK BACKS, why approve this? This is the Gov's buddy and the Gov. is trying to wash this under the rug quickly. I hope the Gov's anti-corruption is in full force with a criminal investigation, EVEN THOUGH, the Gov had to pay back the state for trips he took out of state to politic for president.
