BATON ROUGE- Tuesday night, streets flooded causing drivers to get stranded, but there may be a solution in the future for one area in particular.

Jefferson Highway near Corporate Boulevard, Essen Lane between I-10 and Perkins Road and Burbank Drive at Nicholson Drive are notorious spots for flooding.

At Walk-On's on Burbank Drive, the flooding problem causes trouble for diners and workers.

"We have, unfortunately, a few months ago we had a few cars that were floating out there, you never want to see that," Seth Dupre, manager of Walk-On's, said.

Dupre said that he has even had to close the restaurant early because of the flooding.

"It was a safety issue, for our staff getting home, the water was rising a lot we didn't know how far down the road it would be flooded so we decided to shut down early and let them get out of here safely," Dupre said.

Engineers are working on a plan for the problem areas, however there aren't specifics just yet. First, engineers are conducting a study and they are confident a solution will be found.

Baton Rouge drainage managers say the rain from Tuesday night fell too fast to run-off and that the new sewer system is not connected to storm drains.
