DOTD inspecting Basin Bridge after fiery crash
WHISKEY BAY - Department of Transportation and Development crews are inspecting I-10 eastbound on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge Thursday.
This comes after a fiery crash killed a husband and wife last week. Engineers will be looking at long term fixes to damage caused by the crash involving four 18-wheelers.
A couple from Ohio died when their big-rig rear-ended another causing a chain reaction crash. The trucks caught on fire and shut down the Interstate for parts of last Friday and Saturday.
DOTD says the bridge is safe to drive on for now. We'll have more information on the results from the inspection on News 2 throughout the day.
