State transportation leaders are releasing early information concerning a major Baton Rouge interstate project.
Boh Brothers construction has been awarded the contract for widening I-10 between Siegen Lane and Highland Road. Boh Brothers proposal was millions of dollars above two other finalists. The contract won't be finalized until next week.
DOTD Secretary William Ankner says other factors were considered. One important variable involved a bridge over the KCS railway. Boh Brothers plans to build a new bridge.
The other proposals only involved widening and rehabbing the current bridge. Ankner says considering technical factors like this gives the taxpayer more for their money. He says things like maintenance costs will be lower long term.
