DOTD: Lane shift on I-12 to be gone in April
BATON ROUGE - The state Department of Transporation and Development said today that safety measures already in place on I-12 would do until April, when construction barriers and a lane shift there are supposed to be removed.
State Police said this morning a Texas trucker was driving too fast when it entered the lane shift at I-12 and O'Neal and flipped over a concrete barrier, blocking both lanes of traffic and causing the interstate to be shut down.
Bill Grass from DOTD said reflective arrows, rumble strips and other measures have been in place for a while in that location to warn drivers. He said since the barriers were scheduled to be removed in April, no other structural changes to the road would be planned.
We'll have more on the announcement tonight starting on News 2 at 5.
