BR mayor's sister arrested; accused of bribery, threatening
The sister of Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden was arrested Tuesday for attempting to bribe a Baton Rouge man and threatening him, according to authorities. Evelyn Holden, 52, allegedly had a six-year affair with Marshall Jackson, 56.
Holden is accused of trying to bribe the man for more cash in order to keep the affair a secret from his wife. Officials with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office say Holden also drove by Jackson's house, shouting threats.
Holden is still in jail at this time. Her bond is set at $19,000. She is charged with extortion, improper telephone communications and intimidating a witness.
The arrest comes just over a month after Holden pleaded guilty in a federal bribery probe. Holden admitted to conspiring with with Flitcher Bell, a former senior Baton Rouge City Court prosecutor, and others, to fix criminal and traffic matters in City Court.
