Donate food in December to ditch library fines
BATON ROUGE - Next month at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, patrons with past due fines erased in exchange for non-perishable food items as the parish library pitches in to feed the less fortunate for the holidays.
According to an EBRPL spokesperson, patrons can donate non-perishable food items at any of the 14 library branch locations in the parish throughout December. The library will waive $1 of the total late check-out fine per each donated item. All items will benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank which needs extra help to stock its pantry during the winter months.
Food eligible for donation includes:
-Canned items (vegetables, soup, meat)
-Breakfast cereal bars
-Any bagged or boxed non-perishable food items
For more information on EBRPL's Food for Fines program, call the library at (225) 231-3740 or visit their website at www.ebrpl.com.
