Donaldsonville Primary to keep location after vote
DONALDSONVILLE - A 5-5 tie vote Tuesday night by Ascension Parish School Board members means Donaldsonville Primary will stay open at its current location rather than move further away from a nearby industrial site.
The board voted for a second time on a proposal to relocate the school to a new location further away from CF Industries. The school's current location is one mile away from the business.
The school and industrial site have been next to each other for decades without incident. A new board member requested the move be part of new construction projects if voters approve a new bond, but that was defeated 6-5 at a prior meeting.
One board member who initially voted against relocating the school, Louis Lambert, said afterward he was confused and wanted to change his vote to approve moving the school.
