DONALDSONVILLE – Deputies in Ascension Parish say a Crime Stoppers tip led to the arrest of a Donaldsonville man wanted for punching a woman in the face.

According to Chief Deputy Bobby Webre, 29-year-old Markquincy Chatman was arrested Thursday in Garland, Texas.

Investigators say Chatman punched a woman at an apartment on D’Ville Village apartments on Dec. 13. The victim suffered a broken tooth and busted lip.

During the investigation, deputies learned that Chatman had committed battery on the victim before.

Webre said Chatman has been arrested 10 times with charges stemming from domestic abuse battery, possession of cocaine and carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Chatman is currently in Dallas County Texas Jail awaiting extradition. Webre said Chatman will be charged with felony second-degree battery.
