Donaldsonville councilman dies at age 68

DONALDSONVILLE- Donaldsonville Councilman Emile Spano unexpectedly passed away this weekend.

According to the city’s website, Spano passed on Sunday, May 22 at the age of 68. He was serving as the District 5 Councilman for the city.

He was a native of Donaldsonville and retired from the Ascension Parish Assessor’s Office after 23 years.

Due to the unexpected passing of Councilman Spano, the council meeting scheduled for this week has been postponed to May 31.

Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home Home on Tuesday, May 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 25 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 25 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church co-celebrated by Rev. Phil Spano and Rev. Paul Yi at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
