Don't knock here! City passes new sales law
GONZALES- City leaders here got tough on door-to-door salespeople.
After Monday night's vote, and passing of a new law, peddlers will need a special permit. They would also need to wear identification.
People complained about solicitors and asked city leaders to do something.
However, some people are worried it could hurt people who are just doing their job.
"I do feel like there are people there to make a living," Jodi Grainer said. "It doesn't bother me at all. I know how to politely say 'no thank you.'"
There are other similar laws in parts of Ascension, too. East Baton Rouge, Livingston and Tangipahoa also have laws dealing with sales.
