BATON ROUGE - Wildlife officials said they will attempt to retrieve a dead dolphin discovered in the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge this week.
A spokesperson for the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said the dolphin was reported yesterday near the Old Mississippi River Bridge, but they couldn't retrieve it because of bad weather.
The spokesperson said there's no telling yet what caused the dolphin to swim this far north. They're also unable to determine cause of death until a necropsy can be performed.
